What is Connection to Country?

Connection to Country, also often referred to as Bush Kindy, is an enriching program designed to give children a deep sense of belonging, both in the natural world and within a supportive community.

Through this program, our Kindergarten children develop confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a lifelong respect for the natural world.

We are fortunate to live in spectacular surroundings, and our hope is that every child has access to unspoilt nature where they can explore, discover, and be amazed by what they see, hear, smell, touch and, occasionally… taste.

“Nature Pedagogy is an understanding of our sense of belonging to land, our sense of working with nature. There is a pedagogical shift when you move outside into nature… it’s learning with nature, not just teaching about it.”

Our Connection to Country program is grounded in research on nature play and ecological identity, and guided by the Forest School Association Principles and Practices, internationally recognised leaders in outdoor education.

Our weekly visits to our Connection to Country site are facilitated by a team who have completed Bush Kindy training.
